Welcome to the Vegan At Universal Studios CA Blog & First Universal Studios Hollywood Vegan Meal Highlighted

Hi, my name is Tamara (Tam-a-ra) & welcome to my blog!

As a vegan since 2009, I recently noticed that although there are several Instagram accounts highlighting vegan food at Disneyland, there's no account (that I could find) focusing on Universal Studios in California. Having said this, I've created a new Instagram account called "veganatuniversalstudiosca" with the goal to discover & highlight vegan food options at Universal Studios Hollywood & Universal Studios CityWalk. Below is the logo for the new Instagram account.

Below is the first vegan item highlighted on my new Instagram page which is the asparagus platter from the Three Broomsticks Restaurant inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. For $16, you receive seared asparagus with mashed potatoes (swap for roasted potatoes,) cabbage, and minted peas garnished with a roasted plum tomato. This was cooked very well and looks better than described online.

I'm excited about discovering & highlighting vegan options at Universal Studios Hollywood as well as Universal Studios CityWalk and hope that this account will lead more vegans visiting the theme park as well as the culinary staff making more vegan options. As I add more photos to the Instagram account, I plan to update them to this blog as well so subscribe to read about all the vegan food options I discover!

Custom Vegetable Bowl at Three Broomsticks Restaurant

While visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I recently discovered that you can order a custom vegetable bowl at Three Broomsticks Restaurant. Be aware that this menu item is only available upon request.  For $10, you get a bowl of sautéed broccoli florets, sliced carrots, and sliced red bell pepper. When ordering this menu item, ask restaurant staff to do a custom order of stir fried vegetables and they should ring it up as a side of stir fried vegetables.

Mother Nature Burger At Krusty Burger

While recently Universal Studios, I visited Krusty Burger to try their vegan burger which is called the Mother Nature burger. The restaurant is a quick service restaurant so you stand in line, place your order with an employee then wait for your order to be called. Inside Krusty Burger The Mother Nature Burger consists of a beyond meat patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and veganaise on a vegan whole wheat bun for $14.49. I found it very ironic that the vegan burger comes with vegetarian fries (since the fries contain dairy.) The burger was okay but it would've been nice to have a vegan side with the burger like a fruit cup. Close up of Mother Nature Burger

Vegan Options At Studio Cafe in Lower Lot

During a recent trip to Universal Studios, I discovered a group of vegan options while checking out the lower lot. Although these options aren't listed on the Universal Studios website vegan food options, I felt I had to share what I found. The Studio Cafe is located in the lower lot of the park right before you get to the Transformers ride. I was pleasantly surprised to see vegan options that were clearly marked on the menu with a logo. The three clearly labeled vegan options at the Studio Cafe which were pasta salad, a dill pickle, and a fruit cup.  Although this vegan bahn mi wasn't listed on the menu, it was displayed with the other sandwiches which was a wonderful surprise. For the cost of $12.99, the vegan bahn mi consists of zucchini, mushroom, carrots, vegan mayo, and cilantro on Italian bread. The sandwich was light and flavorful.
